Accounts Payable Manager

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is hiring an Accounts Payable Manager for its Finance team at head office in Midrand. This is a hands-on senior management role covering trade and non-trade creditors: suppliers paid accurately and on time, accounts reconciled, queries resolved and strong controls in place. You will lead supervisors and team leaders, report to the Group Head of Treasury, and improve processes through better use of systems and data.

Key responsibilities:

Own end-to-end accounts payable operations, including invoices, statements, reconciliations, queries, payment readiness, approvals and month-end
Set clear standards and accountability for supervisors, and manage performance, development and succession
Apply sound accounting judgement to supplier claims, reversals, refunds, accruals, adjustments and write-backs, with full audit trails
Act as senior owner for significant supplier account and payment matters, working with Buying, Procurement, Treasury, Tax and Internal Audit
Make effective use of SAP and related workflow, reconciliation and payment systems, and drive tested process improvements
Maintain financial controls, segregation of duties and audit readiness, and report fraud risks and control failures
Provide concise reporting on ageing, open queries, backlogs, productivity and control issues
Requirements:

Degree in accounting (preferred), finance or a related field
5-8 years’ experience in accounts payable, finance or accounting
Advanced SAP accounts payable experience and strong Excel and data analysis skills
Experience in high-volume, multi-entity environments such as retail, FMCG, wholesale or pharmaceuticals (advantageous)
South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record, a driver’s licence and/or own transport
