Unit Manager | Theatre Qualified

Life Healthcare is looking for a Unit Manager: Theatre (theatre qualified) at Life Peglerae Hospital in Rustenburg, reporting to the Theatre Manager. You will provide strong clinical leadership, ensure excellent patient care and manage the theatre complex efficiently, in line with hospital standards, infection prevention protocols and quality improvement work.

Key responsibilities:

– Ensure safe, high-quality nursing care in the operating room

– Maintain clinical standards, policies and procedures, and monitor patient safety and infection prevention

– Manage surgical lists, theatre utilisation and patient flow

– Manage clinical risks, adverse events, audits and quality improvement initiatives

– Handle staffing, resource allocation, stock use and equipment readiness for the unit

– Lead staff training and development with the Clinical Training Coordinator

– Drive compliance with accreditation standards and SANC regulations

Requirements:

– Diploma/Degree in General Nursing and Midwifery; registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse

– Postgraduate qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science (essential)

– 3-5 years’ operating room experience; supervisory or management experience in theatre preferred

– A management qualification is advantageous

– Computer literacy, valid SA driver’s licence and own reliable transport

– Willing to join the theatre standby/on-call system
