Product Marketing Lead

Website Canonical

Own the story behind Ubuntu-powered enterprise products

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, is hiring a Product Marketing Lead who can work remotely from anywhere in EMEA, including South Africa. The role sits between product and the market. It takes deeply technical open-source products and defines who they are for, what problem they solve, why Canonical wins and how they should be positioned and priced.

Key responsibilities:

– Own positioning, messaging and narrative for a product area, consistent from the website to the sales deck.

– Run product launches end to end: tiering, timelines, cross-functional plans, assets and post-launch reporting.

– Build competitive intelligence on who Canonical loses to, why, and how to respond.

– Create sales enablement, including battlecards, discovery questions, objection handling and demo narratives.

– Run customer, community and win-loss research to keep messaging grounded in real buyer language.

– Work with demand generation, content, web and events teams to turn positioning into pipeline, and mentor peers.

Requirements:

– Excellent written and spoken English.

– A strong academic record from high school and university.

– Proven B2B software, SaaS or open-source product marketing experience, including owning positioning for a product or portfolio.

– Launches you led that measurably changed adoption, pipeline or win rate.

– Enough technical curiosity to engage credibly with engineers and product managers.

Teams meet in person two to four times a year. Closing date: not specified; the role is open until filled.
