Accountant (Botswana Retail Business)

Pick n Pay is looking for an Accountant, based at its Kensington offices in Gauteng (fully on-site), to provide financial and operational accounting support to its Botswana retail business. The role is about strengthening financial governance and reporting accuracy, and about supporting commercial decisions across a multi-store retail network.

Key responsibilities:
– Prepare and review monthly management accounts and make sure they comply with accounting standards, internal controls and statutory requirements.
– Lead year-end processes and audits, including preparing full audit packs.
– Manage cash flow forecasts, treasury controls, debtors and creditors to improve working capital.
– Support payroll reconciliation and match high-volume POS transactions against SAP.
– Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, and recommend improvements to profitability and shrinkage control.
– Lead and mentor a medium-sized finance team, allocate work and maintain process discipline.

Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CA, ACCA or CIMA is an advantage.
– Essential: accounting experience in retail or FMCG.
– Required: SAP experience. Also needed: strong Excel skills (pivot tables, financial models) and Power BI.
– Proven experience leading finance teams.
