Associate AI Solutions Engineer

Sanlam Life & Savings is hiring an Associate AI Solutions Engineer in Bellville to join its AI Solutions team, which builds data-driven and GenAI-powered solutions across the cluster. The role mixes machine learning, DevOps and AI engineering. It is designed for someone early in their career, with a structured growth path to intermediate and senior levels.

What you’ll do:

– Help with data preprocessing and feature engineering, and contribute to shared feature stores.

– Support building, tuning and evaluating ML models with frameworks such as Scikit-learn and PyTorch.

– Learn LLM fundamentals, prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), including embeddings and vector search.

– Help build and maintain ML pipelines for training, deployment and monitoring, including tracking performance and drift.

– Work with AWS services (S3, EC2, Lambda, IAM), Docker, Git and CI/CD pipelines.

– Write clean, testable code and take part in code reviews.

Requirements:

– A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.

– Foundational Python programming skills; exposure to SQL, R or Java is an advantage.

– Basic understanding of databases, Git workflows and cloud core services.

– Exposure to Docker and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI is an advantage.

– Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, good communication and a collaborative attitude.

– Curiosity, persistence and adaptability in a fast-moving field.
