Manager: Claims (Construction & Engineering) JHB – JG7

Santam Specialist Solutions has an opening for a Manager: Claims in its Construction and Engineering (SCE) business, based at Wanderers Office Park, Illovo, Johannesburg. The manager leads and supports the claims team with technical guidance, handles complex and high-value claims, and drives performance and process improvements.

Key responsibilities:

– Manage, mentor and direct the claims team on proper claims handling and processing

– Handle all complex and high-quantum claims

– Train new staff and monitor team performance

– Keep staff up to date on products, systems and relevant legislation

– Assess claims within policy wordings and correspond with brokers and service providers

– Authorise assignments and payments within delegated authority, and prepare matters for the Claims Committee

– Manage the department when the Head: Claims (SCE) is away

Requirements:

– Matric / Grade 12

– Bachelor’s degree in insurance, engineering, law, risk management, construction management, quantity surveying or a related field

– At least 5 years’ claims experience in the construction and engineering sector

– At least 3 years managing a claims team

– RE5 and FAIS compliance preferable

– Strong MS Office skills; expertise in C&E claims, policy interpretation and reinsurance
