Survey Manager

Thermal coal producer Thungela Resources is looking for a permanent Survey Manager at Khwezela Colliery near eMalahleni, Mpumalanga. You will measure all excavations, keep operational plans up to date, handle third-party requests to mine near boundaries, and make sure the operation complies with legislation.

Key responsibilities:

Implement and keep legal requirements, codes of practice, group standards and procedures up to date, and make sure the required MHSA appointments are in place
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports comparing actual and planned mining
Stake out the mine plan for the mining department and liaise between survey and other mining departments
Keep all survey systems running effectively and in line with procedures and data structures
Manage and develop survey staff, including training needs and learning paths
Control engineering costs within budget and drive cost savings
Requirements:

Mine Surveyor’s Certificate of Competency
Registration as a Mine Surveyor with PLATO (advantageous)
BTech, diploma or degree in Mine Surveying, NQF 7 (advantageous)
Valid driver’s licence
Extensive mine surveying experience
In-depth knowledge of the MHSA, MPRDA and Water Act, current survey technology, survey software and land management
